MyData Hackathon Simple Rules

We don’t want to wrap you up in rules and regulations, so here is the short version:

  • PARTICIPATION IS FREE OF CHARGE.
  • Contestants are chosen to attend through application process: all Contestant(s) must be INDIVIDUALLY registered on the Hackathon website – Ultrahack webpage in order to be eligible for participation.
  • 1-5 PERSON STUDENT; STARTUP, NGO AND CORPORATE TEAMS/INDIVIDUALS ARE ELIGIBLE. 
  • At least one team member must be physically present at the event to provide the presentation of their team’s submission. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR HACKATHON IS FOR AT LEAST ONE TEAM MEMBER TO BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT DURING THE HACKATHON. 
  • NO IPR IS TRANSFERRED (some exceptions apply, see full rules for more information).
  • The general aim of the Hackathon is to promote MyData topics and for teams to create prototypes and Solutions leveraging the Challenge themes. 
  • The winners of the Ultrahack MyData Hackathon will be eligible to continue to the Ultrahack 2016 Finals in November.
  • The Ultrahack Challenge is open to:
    • individuals who are at least 18 (see details in full rules); and
    • teams of up to five eligible individuals, where each team member meets the eligibility requirements.
  • Each Team shall appoint one individual to represent and act on behalf of the team, including entering a Submission (the result of the Hackathon).
  • All Submission material must be in English.
  • Submissions may contain third party open source and/or proprietary code as long as each such element of open source code is identified and license to such code is available to the general public.
  • All eligible Hackathon Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges. 
  • Hackathon Prizes are decided and given by the jury assembled by the Organizer.     
  • Participation in the Ultrahack MyData Hackathon, inline with the Ultrahack Rules, constitutes Contestant’s consent to Organizers’, and their agents’ use of the winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions, comments and/or hometown and state of residence (and, as applicable, those of all other members of the Team who participated in the Submission) and the resulting works and projects for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration, for a period of three years following the conclusion of the Ultrahack Challenge.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Hackathon and/or Ultrahack Challenge, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failure or any other unanticipated factor or factor beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control impairs the safety, integrity or proper functioning of the Ultrahack Challenge, as determined by the Organizer in its sole discretion. 
  • The Organizer collects personal information from you when you enter the Ultrahack Challenge. The information collected is subject to the privacy policy located here: www.ultrahack.org

  • In case of discrepancy between these short rules and the full Official Rules, the full Official Rules shall prevail.

We will operate the Hackathon under the umbrella of Ultrahack 2016 Official Rules. Those can be read by contestants in the online Registration system (https://ultrahack.org/rules).
