Transportation in Helsinki

MyData 2016 encourages you to enjoy Helsinki by walking and cycling (try the city bikes or ask a bike from your hotel). With our partner Helsinki Region Transportation we will also offer free travel cards to conference guests (valid during the conference in Helsinki area) – get your travel card when arriving to the venue.

The venue, Helsinki Hall of Culture, is next to Linnanmäki Amusement Park, near the Helsinki city centre. Venue address is: Sturenkatu 4

 

Getting to downtown Helsinki from the airport

Finnair’s airport bus

Fare 6,30€ per trip (passing the venue, hop off at Porvoonkatu stop and continue walking after the bus 200m)

Helsinki Region Transportation

I train and P train or Bus 615 to the city centre, fare: single ticket 5,50 € (approx. 35mins)

You may pay your trip in several ways (by cash to the tram/bus driver, by mobile phone app, by SMS and in a ticket machine (sales points on bigger stations and tram stops).

Taxi

A ride from airport to the venue (17 km) takes 20-30 minutes and costs c. 35-40€. For reservations Helsinki Taxi 0100 0700. Rates and more information: http://www.taksihelsinki.fi/en/taxi-fares

Über from the airport (26-35€, much cheaper towards the airport): https://www.uber.com/fare-estimate. Note that the Finnish police is tightening grip on Uber drivers.

Nearest train stations (Main railway station and Pasila station)

The venue is about 2,5 km North from the Main railway station (walking directions), and about 1,5 km South from from the Pasila railway station (walking directions). All trains arriving in Helsinki stop first at Pasila and then (in 5 min) at the Main railway station that is the end stop of all trains. Here are some busses from the Pasila railway station to the venue. (A taxi from Pasila (13-15€) and from the Main railway station 17-20€)

City bikes

City bikes (sponsored by the grocery store chain Alepa) 5 € per day, 10€ per week, pre-registration and credit card payment in the net required. The nearest (300m down the Sturenkatu, south-westbound)) city bike station called “Linnanmäki” is in the corner of Helsinginkatu and Sturenkatu.
