Ms Taru Rastas serves as Senior Adviser in the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, where her responsibilities include Big Data and MyData policies and digital development. Currently, she runs a key government project on data utilisation in business activities. Previously, she has coordinated work on national digital strategies, information society policy, a digital single market, open data in transport and communications and open public sector information. Her background is in management consulting as an entrepreneur, with a special focus on intangibles, and in academic research on non-financial reporting. Before her present post she worked as Ministerial Adviser in the Ministry of Trade and Industry specialising in the industrial policy of service sector. She holds a Master’s degree in economics and has published books and articles on intellectual capital, data and services.
