When the Hack?

Tuesday 30th August 2016 for those approved Hackers and Partners, check-in onsite from 15:00hrs. Kick-off 16:30hrs. Then the Hackathon runs through until Thursday 1st September 2016 18:30hrs.

It will be as intensive as you choose.

We will support and guide you with expert mentors – whether you like working 9-to-5, 5-to-9 or are a 24hr machine!

What the Hack?

MyData (learn more) is an initiative to help people gain more control over their personal data. Let’s hack the future of personal data management together with many interesting organizations!

The Hackathon is part of the international Mydata Conference, being organized by Open Knowledge Finland, Aalto University and Fing.

The Ultrahack MyData Hackathon will offer you encouragement, inspiration and expertise for your journey.

Being part of the Hackathon also gives you free entry to the international MyData Conference so you have the opportunity to listen to world leaders in the MyData field when you need extra inspiration. Wow!

MyData Challenge themes

Mobility (transport), Public Services, Finance, Retail and Health are the main focus areas. We will be adding more information very soon, offering guidance and resources with which to work. All solutions should consider the individual – how personal data is managed.

We’re open for all skillsets (business, legal, technical, developers, service designers etc) and profiles whether you are student/independent, start-up or corporate. This is a great opportunity to network with like-minds and to show-case your talent! After 48 hours of adrenaline filled action, teams will present their MyData masterpieces late Thursday and celebrate the shared Hackathon achievement.

How the Hack?

All contestants need to first register and then be selected – solo, in search of other team members, or as part of a pre-existing (even virtual) team.

Team sizes must be from 1-5 people.

The choice is yours and we can help in the pre-Hackathon team matchmaking phase.

As long as at least one team member is physically present during the Hackathon, that is good by us.

Prizes

The overall winning team will win €5,000 cash prize.

Up to five other prizes worth €1,000 each can be won by teams. We will have other bonus/spot prizes. Watch this space!

As MyData is an important theme within the Ultrahack 2016 Tournament, the most interesting projects from this Hackathon will be invited to the join the Ultrahack Finals 25th-27th November 2016 in Helsinki.

That gives you further time to develop your solution and take a crack at the major Ultrahack prizes!

What to bring?

We will provide you with the usual infra: WLAN, working space, food and drink to keep you charged.

Ultrahack and Partners will support you with various tech loans for free. More information soon.

Bring your own working platforms, desktops, laptops, tablets and other gear you believe you will need during the event.
